Patients with a Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorder often experience one or more of the following TMJ-related symptoms:
- Headaches or migraines
- Jaw pain or a tight jaw
- Sounds from the jaw joint, such as clicking, popping or grating
- Problems with the jaw, such as difficulty opening or closing
- Pain while chewing food or difficulty swallowing
- Problems with the ears such as an earache, ringing in the ears or congestion
- Dizziness
- Pain behind the eyes
- Pain in the neck or throat
- Facial pain
- Difficulty closing the teeth together
- Tenderness of the scalp
- Clenching or grinding teeth
- Sleep disorders, such as snoring or sleep apnea
