Tinnitus and TMJ Connection

    For Patients

It is Richard Goodfellow again, talking about TMJ and Sleep Breathing Disorders.

Today I would like to touch on Tinnitus, ringing in the ears.

Sometimes people have it episodic, every once in a while, and some people have it as a real, real problem daily, and it is usually experienced more when your life quiets down, you’re sitting at home, lying in bed.

There is a very strong relationship between TMJ problems and ringing in the ears.

Here we show a TMJ where there is a disc issue. People who like to clench and grind, this bone is going up, creates an inflammatory response, and there is the inner ear right there.

It is not uncommon for people to experience ringing in the ears while they have a TMJ problem.

Some people don’t think they have a TMJ problem, but they have ringing in the ears, and lo and behold, they find out they do have a TMJ problem.

So, we could explore this together.
